Today we dropped Grace and Eli off at Camp Lakewood for a week of playing, singing, swimming, forming new friendships, and learning more about God. So Ada is flying solo and she told Grandma and Grandpa that she will not miss Grace and Eli while they are gone. After we left camp however, she was very quiet but refused to admit that anything was wrong. I gave her my iPhone to take her mind off things for a bit, and so she didn’t have to struggle to not cry (I know my girl).
We went to Culver’s for ice cream, and when I asked if she wanted chocolate or vanilla, she replied, “Grandpa says chocolate is the best, so I guess chocolate!” That was topped with Reese’s Pieces, Andes Mints, and chocolate syrup – no thanks. For supper I made her mac & cheese (shells of course), and then we played a little Wii.
We are making a list of fun things she wants to do this week, and she feels so special that it is written on MY white board on the fridge. The simplest things can make them feel so important, can’t they?
I’m documenting this more for myself, so that twenty years from now I can remember this week I have with my littlest Little. Hopefully it’s not too boring for you 🙂
I wish I were there to hug your loneliness away, Ada. I will share some time and chocolate ice cream with you this weekend though.
LOVE,
Grandpa
What a sweet pea.
I love this post and love that you have this week with your “littlest Little.” What a special time! I had fun with my “littlest Little” this evening, too…. she just can’t have a conversation yet (which is good and bad! haha!) 🙂
