Ada: When I get married, I am going to wear a dress with long sleeves since it will be cold outside.
Me: Are you getting married in the winter?
Ada: Yes. I want to get married on my birthday.
Me: Ah. Don’t you have to ask Ezra? (the boy she is planning to marry)
Ada: I did. I asked him to marry me, and he said yes.
Me: I mean, you have to ask him WHEN he wants to get married. What if he wants to get married on HIS birthday?
Ada: Oh. Well maybe I should wait to decide until I’m a grown up. Besides, I forget his last name.
Details.
Walking into a department store…
Ada: It smells good in here. It smells like water.
Me: I didn’t know water had a smell.
Ada: It does. Water smells like water, and I can smell water.
Further into the store…
Ada: OH MY GOSH!! There’s a fancy piano in here! (giggling while she says it)
There are now ladies smiling at her, her voice carries embarrassingly far.
And now we’re going up the escalator…
Ada: OH. MY. GOODNESS. Mom, we just passed ANOTHER set of stairs!!
I promise she has been in a department store before.
