Where we’re at today

It is day to day, isn’t it?

I think I can say, with fingers crossed, eyes raised to Jesus in a silent prayer, that Grace’s anxiety is fairly under control.  She hasn’t even been taking her acid reflux medicine.  Chad and I are working very intentionally on seeing a mood swing coming and talking through it with her before it’s in full action.  And I just think SHE’S getting better at handling her emotions which is truly the ultimate goal.  I want her to have the tools to manage this on her own, because someday I won’t be there to talk through this with her.  My job is to equip her.  Well really, that can be said about all of them for anything.

A new struggle is their lack of remorse.  They’ll do something to a sibling and seem to not even care.  Chad or I will be disciplining them and they’ll laugh thinking about what they did.  Once again…if lasers shot out of my eyes…  This truly baffles me.  I cannot conceive a time where I would laugh in my parents’ faces while they were scolding me for hurting someone.  I haven’t landed anywhere on this, just sharing this lovely new ditch with you.

So that’s where we’re at today.  What about you?  Any new victory you want to shout from the rooftops, or struggle you’d like to get off your chest?

  1. Paige has been struggling with the lack of remorse since toddlerhood. I was, and am still, baffled by this behavior. If there is one thing God has taught me through motherhood, it’s that I cannot control these little people. I can teach them, correct them, and encourage them to do the right thing, but ultimately it is there choice. This leaves me encouraged and wanting to pull my hair out all at the same time. Keep your chin up, friend! It will be something new in no time 😉

  2. It seems that my “ditch” with my kiddos looks different on any given day…. with any given child! Know that you are not alone…. we ALL have “ditches”…. it’s just a matter of whether or not we are authentic enough to admit it!! Love ya, girl! Glad that we are in the same circle!!!
