Yes, we have reached the tipping point of summer vacation where my children bicker non-stop. It truly drives me insane. Yesterday they were whining that it was “rest day” (um…. it’s Biblical!!!), which also means no Wii, and they would not stop. So I gave them an activity to do – clean their rooms. I thought it was a great idea, they disagreed. Nobody’s room is any cleaner, but it got them away from each other for about 45 minutes.
I try to have one outing a day in the summer so we get out but aren’t crazy busy. This seems to work for us, especially in these 90 degree days we’ve been having. But lately I can’t even handle getting to the car! They’re arguing about who got to the car first, or whose turn it is to open the car door, or whose turn it is to sit in the middle, or what song we should listen to, or how high the air conditioner should be, or whether or not Ada should be allowed to sing. It’s getting out of control. It always ends up the same – we come home and have mandatory bedroom time. I try SO HARD to stay calm and not get sucked into their vortex of crazy. I need to be the adult here! But sometimes what I really want to do is have my OWN mandatory bedroom time and lock the door.
School starts in 28 days. Oh yeah, in case you didn’t know that about me, I’m one of THOSE moms who counts down to school starting again. I will be at Spyro’s on Monday, August 22 enjoying a lovely breakfast if anyone wants to join me.
Love it!! And I only have 2 kids and 6 weeks of Summer holidays!
