In 2 days Grace will be 7. I will have a 2nd grader. I really can’t believe it. This one sweet girl who started it all will be 7. Tonight she’s going on a date with her daddy to Chick Fil A (she really wants an Oreo milkshake) then to Toys R Us to pick out her present. Before you call that laziness, you need to understand that the girl loves to shop. Having that time with daddy will be more precious to her than merely opening a present in 5 seconds. She’ll get to talk to him tonight with no interruptions (he’ll probably need complete silence from me when they return), she’ll get to ride in the front seat with him (the airbag turns off, don’t worry), have ice cream, and go shopping. So don’t be surprised if when you see her in the next couple weeks she tells you all about it. She WILL remember every lovely detail, and happily tell you each one. She will be beaming when she gets home from all that daddy time. I’m so thankful for Chad, for doing this for her. He is such a great dad, and I know that tonight he is planting seeds of what she will need to look for in a man some day (some day far, far away). She’s so lucky to have him as an example of a godly man, husband, and daddy. My heart is full.
My “favorite big girl” is almost 7
“Thank you Lord for my Heather Grace. Thank you for her compassion, her love, her empathy. Please help us to guide her emotions, knowing that you gave them to her for a reason. And thank you for growing me as a mom in the process.”
I love that you are writing! I love this entry. (Chad is a good man, husband and dad). Love you guys.
