Yet Another Reason

why Chad and I are a good fit.

Chad is very future-minded, while I live in the present.  He sets the goals, I maintain the functioning budget so we reach the goals.  We have the next six or so steps already figured out for our debt snowball, but he’s the one who looks at it regularly, not me.

While we were driving to pick up the kids from my parents’ on Sunday he said, “I’d like to set some more financial goals for after we’ve finished our debt snowball.  We’ve just casually talked about what vacation we want to go … Read the rest

My Battle Over Emotions

I don’t like to cry.  I’m ok with others crying, but I don’t like it when it happens to me.  It makes me feel like I’m not in control of my own body.  It’s the same reason I only have one drink when I decide to have one.  I need to be in control of myself.

This Sunday at church was Pastor Stan’s first Sunday back after having a brain tumor removed.  We were going to do a song called “Forever Reign”, which we had done the Sunday after we found out his tumor was Stage 4 cancer.  As I … Read the rest

Just Slow Down

Leave work, run to the bank and grocery store, crap – I need to go to the gas station too, get home and put the brownies in the oven – crap, I’m out of canola oil, call a friend to borrow canola oil, get the eggs boiled to put on salad… I have more days like this than I care to admit.  And these are the days when my kids don’t stand a chance.  I’m in a hurry and multi-tasking more than I probably should, and any slight interruption sends me over the edge.  Those slight interruptions weigh 30-48 pounds, … Read the rest

Thought for the day

I was at Olive Garden on Friday for a co-worker’s birthday.  I recognized our waiter, but I wasn’t sure from where.  So I asked him, “Where did you work before this?”  He said…

“I thought I recognized you from Spyro’s!”
Yep.  So it looks like I need to take a break from cornmeal sausage waffles for a while.

One of the Best Days Ever

My sister got married Saturday!

I, and countless others, have been praying for Rich long before we knew him.  It’s incredible to see the ways that he cares for her and loves her.  I know that there is no other man who could be more perfect for her.

I think the part of the ceremony that hit me the hardest was hearing Rich’s vows.  Hearing him promise before God that he would love her for the rest of his life.  It’s good.

I know that Heather could have made it as a single woman.  It would have been a hard … Read the rest

Wednesday Wackiness

Alright, I tricked you.  There’s no wit this week.  But let me tell you what we’ve had going on, and what’s going on this weekend…

Rich & Heather’s engagement
All 5 of us are in my sister’s wedding this weekend in Illinois.  (woohoo!!!)  I’m singing in the ceremony, Chad’s playing guitar in the ceremony and reading scripture, I’m putting together the music to use for the dismissal after the ceremony while Heather and Rich dismiss everyone, and I’m putting together the video of pictures with music to be played at the reception.  And exhale!  (By the way, this is by

Missing Body

Warning: Curves Ahead

Warning men: female content ahead!

I had a doctor appointment yesterday, and after I was weighed, we discussed my weight loss.  She said, “Are you at your desired weight?  Because I would say your BMI is just fine.”  Music to my ears!  From a DOCTOR!!  The truth is, I am at my desired weight, but I’m not at my “desired body”.  She said, “Well, that’s why plastic surgeons have jobs.”  Really?  That’s my best option right now?  Because I would rather get back to my pre-baby shape through Weight Watchers and the Y.  Is she telling me … Read the rest

Dear Weight Watchers,

Sorry I missed your calls this weekend.

(Wad that paper up and throw it in the garbage).

Dear Weight Watchers,
I know you called several times this weekend, but I ignored those calls.  And I’m not really sorry.  We were so busy eating lunch at the mall’s food court, then having funnel cakes at the Johnny Appleseed Festival, then lasagna and drinks at a friend’s house, then supper at Olive Garden on Sunday.  You see, every time you called, we were busy eating somewhere and I just didn’t have the heart to answer during fun family time.  I promise to … Read the rest

Paper and Pen Please

So my husband’s in IT.  Well actually, he’s an IT Director.  I’m proud of him.  But that’s not the point of this one.

No the point of this one is technology.  I just bought a lovely calendar to go in my purse, but then I had to buy a bigger purse to accommodate said calendar.  That’s…. embarrassing.  BUT you moms know what I’m talking about here with the calendar – pediatrician appointments, eye doctor appointments, dentist appointments, hair cuts, school activities – I need one honkin’ calendar!

I visited Chad at work the other day, and we’re having dinner with … Read the rest

So let me know!  And thank you, thank you for reading, and doing life with me. 😀… Read the rest
